Amsterdam is the fourth most important European fashion city. Therefore, it was no surprise that the head office of fashion house Karl Lagerfeld decided to move from Paris to Herengracht in Amsterdam. They settled in the renovated national monument ‘de Zonnewijser’. The building has been completely renovated in style and made as sustainable as possible. Jaga’s fan convectors can be found throughout the entire 2300 square metre building. The monument was built in 1772 and during the renovation works the requirements that apply to the national monument had to be met. The property is insulated as well as possible. The choice was made to install air/water heat pumps on the roof. The heat pumps are concealed and cannot be seen from the street. Thanks to enormous efforts, innovative solutions, and all the adjustments, the building was eventually awarded an A+ energy label. This is very exceptional for a monumental canal house. One of the important requirements for the office building was that there should be a comfortable indoor climate and that the rooms could be cooled, ventilated, and heated. Jaga’s low-temperature radiators were chosen. They can both cool and heat. Furthermore, a new central ventilation system has been installed. In the entire building, the building style has been taken into account and the radiators have been, among others, installed into existing window sills or concealed in the floor. The building’s huge ballroom remained in its old style and is used for presentations and fashion shows. Here, the powerful Briza 22 is concealed in the windows sills. The entrance is situated in a large room with glass to the ground and Mini Canal Hybrids radiators installed in the floor. As they are installed in the ground, they don’t obstruct the view. In the office spaces, a modern and sleek look was chosen. Matching Briza 12 radiators were placed against the wall. Briza is the slimmest type on the market and has large capacities in both cooling and LT heating. In the restaurant on the top floor, there are multiple Briza 22 in the ceiling.
